Chasing my potential, and yours…

I started running as an adult, improving from a middle-of-the-pack runner to elite. I’m now focused on ultra marathons where I have achieved a number of wins and podiums on road and trail. In 2019, competing for Scotland, I won the British 100km Championship. With international championships wiped out in 2020 I was thrilled to get a GB vest for the IAU’s Virtual Solidarity Run. I moved from Scotland to the coast and mountains of the Costa Blanca in 2020.

After a Masters degree at the University of Cambridge I completed a PhD in statistical history at the University of St Andrews, where I later worked in Knowledge Transfer, reading and synthesising research across the arts and sciences. Then I moved on to software development and worked at LiveCode for three years. This background has given me the desire (and skills) to research, learn, question and understand science from all disciplines. I keep up to date with the latest sports science (to geek levels). I have a certificate in the Science of Exercise from the University of Colorado Boulder and a professional diploma in Strength and Conditioning at Barça Innovation Hub (part of FC Barcelona) taught by leaders in the field (a 9-month course with 18 pieces of written course work, 9 timed tests and a final exam). Scroll down for certificates.

I want everyone to have a shot at getting started, levelling up and reaching their potential. Every one of my plans comes with a pre-plan zoom call and daily, weekly or bi-weekly adjustments to make sure your plan works for you, personally. Sign up for the premium monthly subscription plan if you want a whole load more of my time and energy focused on your training.

When you join Ultra Potential you’ll be part of a friendly group of athletes who cheer each other on in our WhatsApp group. Ultra Potential athletes range from elite to beginner, all with the common purpose of exploring their potential whilst keeping training (mostly!) fun. From 2023 we have an annual meet up: 2023 was in Edinburgh, 2024 was spring time in Javea!

If you cannot afford coaching I give two free subs each year via Into Ultra, get in touch with them and say you want me as your coach.
